History of Roces Artist Guild

It was a dream that started in a dream, it may sound redundant but that‘s how things begin. I once dreamed of a man in the middle of nowhere with only a lamp as his light. I walked closer and I saw he is drawing. I called him and as he took a glimpse I saw that man was me. I woke up with my heart pounding like a drum in the midst of war. I grab a pencil and a sheet of paper then started to draw. “I dreamed of drawing so I draw my dream”.

2006-2007
My passion for art leads me to another artist who shares the same dream as mine; to build artist to their full capacity and be the best of what they can be. With Edmer Ortiz’s will and my ambition, we created a dream: a dream of a guild where the artist has the will to express, speak and be understood. A pointless dream of that time but became the very foundation of a progressing build up of our guild.
2007-2008
Dreams never sleep, dreams never rest and dreams never leave ones thought. Now I am sophomore and Edmer and I went our separate ways, but destiny has its way and lead me to 4 outstanding artist; Michael Angelo Bolocano, Angelo Belleza, Royce Emmanuel Salvacion and Ervin John Barros. From the foundation Edmer and had created we build the next stage of our campaign. We planned a more detail steps to make things possible. Now all is set and done and us realizing we had a lot to work on but the first task of a leader is what we must keep in mind. “The task of a leader is to keep the hope alive”.
2008-2009
One step at a time, the journey may be long but inches by inches we can reach our destination. I took my first big step in this campaign; I conducted a room to room search for aspiring artist in our batch. From 5 artists we are now 35 in number, I was able to motive some of the artist maybe I can move a little farther, I must find a suitable adviser for the guild. I made my search but found nobody; I face my unstable guild with disappointment. “What I did was Smoke But no cigar”
2009-2010
I failed but I don’t care, failing doesn’t matter as long as you keep on standing up. With art in my heart and my loyal comrades by my side we will strive once again then learn from my mistakes. Before you can establish anything you must establish yourself first. Then I meet another aspiring comrade; Jan Albin Tolentino, he may not be in the field of visual art I saw an overwhelming flow of passion within him. A passion for music, it took 3 years before I meet Edmer again but like old time passion never died. We made a big impression in our class in the field of art and academic that caught the eye of Mr. Dennis  Mano: then he became the adviser of RAG.
August 10, 2009
Roces Artist Guild was finally recognized by principal and approved the legalization of our Guild. Now the illusion became reality, a dream is now materialized. Our work have not gone in vain, we made it our club is established by the help of God and the artist with real passion for art.
